Letter 10

Dear friend,
I had an argument with my dad just few hours ago on the topic of abortion.

Right before i go into this let me just mention that of all whatever he said he is a good man with a very fatherly mindset, please don't get him wrongly.

So we were watching one TV show and they were talking abortion. Every once in a while my father and i like to debate on some topics that is being discussed in just any TV programmes. Sometimes we agree with each other and sometimes we do not and get into serious argument. Well, today we don't agree with each other.

That time we were talking about a young mother, a teenage girl impregnated by an asshole. She was just 17. From the perspective of a father he listed down all the consequences that to be bore by the female, or called the mother. So from there he talked about the future, the cost to raise a child, experience, education and all sort of fatherly things.

And what i decoded from his answers was he kind of agreed with abortion IF a girl is not ready, or too young to be a mother. From there started my objections. I said something about humanity, past successful cases around the globe of those young age mothers and a lot more which is too long to write. I certainly don't agree with abortion.

My mom and sister- Jane were there witnessing our argument and up to a point my mom looked at me fiercely for some sort of weird reason. For not respecting my dad perhaps. I just don't think so. I respect my dad so much he taught me so many things and take life differently. Oh and, don't take things as granted.

Here this is the fact: don't expect your children to have the same mindset as you do. Based of the age gap and background diversity, we just can't put the opinions together. To be able to argue your point and stand up for what you think it is right, i'm sure that is the reason my dad works so hard to put Jane and I into the university. Without this kind of debate i don't think i could argue good or even have the courage to talk to whoever that comes by me, regardless his/her rank in the society or background.

I really don't call it an argument to be frank, perhaps a discussion or a debate in a more serious manner. It is meant for different opinions based on individual beliefs and reasons. From there we learn each other better, learn about the topic more thoroughly, let go then and live on. It is a good thing, isn't it? One thing we all have to understand, to learn better we will need to put down our egoism. For the sake of better learning.

All my life i'm thirst for knowledge. I am not showing off anything, just that i like to read and learn every sort of things. Things that i don't understand intrigued me more than what you're expecting you have no idea!

Before i end all this, let me just say it again: My dad is old and as a person gets old, things he worried on everything, children, events, health, just all, increase with his age. Reason is simple, he fell so many times throughout his life, he just didn't want us to walk the wrong way, or the hard way which he had walked before. Another thing is, as a person grows old, he lost his courage. He is not as brave as he used to be while he was young. These things are the fundamental of a fatherly mindset especially you grow old with children beside you. I understand that. He is a good man i assured you. He will be 100% giving full moral support if such thing happens, of course i don't hope this will ever happen in our family. It is just verbally we discuss and as a dad he has a dignity to preserve. We both understand each other's thoughts. I'm sure.

Dear father,
I love you so much i couldn't express myself in words, the language has failed me. Thank you for all the things you had done for the family; every little thing that eventually shaped Jane and I into perfectly fine human beings which is now so rare the society's dying for. The moments that you find me disrespecting or defying you, i'm sorry i swear to God i don't mean it. At the peak of the argument there will never be a solution especially when it involves two guys.

Lastly, blood in the young spirits are always seething you can't help it. And that is the period of time they have that and please don't stop them, once the courage is lost it's gone forever. Don't make them repent. Mistakes made are the tracks of them growing up, you know? Let them be. Let me be. Don't worry, they'll be fine, we'll be fine, i'll be fine.

They understand things better now because they are growing up. They are grown.

With love,
Kit- your son.

With love,
Kit
